Involvement in the school community
The school aims to promote positive parent participation in:
school and classroom activities
decision-making processes
school programs
community activities
school and student success
Opportunities for involvement include:
classroom support
Parents' and Citizens' Association
tuckshop (even if you wish only to help once a month)
school reviews and evaluations
Volunteers and visitors to the school
Volunteers are an integral and valued part of our school community. We welcome and encourage parents and caregivers to assist.
Prior to working with students in any capacity, volunteers must complete the mandatory training for volunteers. Please see the office staff for further details and information.
Parents volunteering in activities that their own child is participating in will generally not need a Blue Card. However there are important exceptions. A Blue Card will be required if:
- The volunteering activity does not involve their own child
- The volunteering role includes close personal contact with another child
- The parent is a restricted person
Volunteers who are not parents (including grandparents) of students attending The Willows State School are required to hold and present a Blue Card prior to working with any students.
All visitors and volunteers must sign in at the office before going to the classrooms and sign out at the office before leaving.
