  • school programs

  • community activities

  • school and student success.

Opportunities for involvement include:

  • classroom support

  • Parents' and Citizens' Association

  • tuckshop (even if you wish only to help once a month)

  • school reviews and evaluations

  • voluntary teacher aide

  • support-a-reader program

Volunteers and visitors to the school

Volunteers are an integral and valued part of our school community. We welcome and encourage parents and carers to assist in areas such as reading, spelling and mathematics. The school ensures that any necessary training is offered when it is required.

All visitors and volunteers must sign in. This may be done in one of two places. Either:

  1. at the office

  2. in the volunteer’s book in each pod.

Insurance conditions require that all voluntary workers register each time that they are in the school. Each Pod has a ‘sign-on’ book. Please ask your child’s teacher to direct you to where the pod volunteer’s register is kept.

Prior to working with students in any capacity, volunteers must read and sign a code of conduct for volunteers. Please see the office staff for further details. Volunteers who are not parents (including grandparents) of students attending The Willows State School are required to hold and present a Blue Card prior to working with any students.

Should parents be unable to help during school hours, there are many activities such as cutting out and colouring-in of gameboards etc that can be done at home. The Resource Centre also appreciates assistance with covering books etc. Please contact the teacher-librarian if you are able to help.
