Armistice Centenary Grants Program
In 2017, The Willows State School applied for funding under The Armistice Centenary Grants Program. The ACGP provides grants of between $3,000 and $50,000 for local community-based projects and activities that commemorate the end of the First World War, remembering Australian service men and women from all conflicts and celebrate a just and secure peace.
The school were successful in obtaining funding and have commenced the redevelopment of the front entrance to the school - the redeveloped entrance will involve the laying of pavers with embedded QR codes - QR codes can be read using a QR Code reader on a mobile device which then links the user to a website. Our students are researching the many different conflicts that Australian soldiers have been involved in and this information will be available through the QR codes.
In 2018, Federal Member for Herbert Cathy O’Toole visited our school to talk to some of our Defence Students about our Armistice Centenary Grant plans.
Our QR code pavers have been laid in our redeveloped front garden. You can take a walk through our Defence history. The QR codes link to the pages on this site.
