Children receive 1 hour of music each week. The focus at this level involves activities of singing songs in tune with limited pitch range, responding to music through listening and movement and improvising on songs through comparatives.

Year 1 to 3

Children receive 1 hour of music each week. The focus at this level involves activities of singing songs in tune with limited pitch range individually and in small groups. They understand and respond to music through listening, playing and moving. Students aurally and visually recognise, sing, play, read and write basic rhythmic and melodic patterns.

Year 4 to 6

Children receive 1 hour of music each week in year 4 and ½ an hour in year 5 and 6. The focus at this level involves activities of singing songs in tune with extended pitch range individually and in small groups. They understand and respond to music through listening, playing, moving and improvising. Students aurally and visually recognise, sing, play, read and write rhythmic and melodic patterns on the staff. At this level students are required to learn the basics of music notation which is achieved through the use of keyboard and guitar.
