Our school library is situated behind the administration block and the tuckshop, in the centre of the school. In 2006 the library was significantly expanded and in addition to an extensive reading collection, there is a class workspace, an area for shared reading and two computer labs.

Library staff

The library is staffed by a teacher librarian and several part-time teacher aides.

Damaged and lost books

When borrowing from The Willows State School library it is expected that resources are returned on time and in the same condition they are loaned. All students are required to use a waterproof A3 pouch with a metal zip to protect the books they borrow. If a resource becomes overdue, borrowing privileges will be suspended until such time as the resource is returned.

If damage to a book occurs please let the library staff know immediately. Do not attempt to mend the book yourself. On many occasions the book can be mended by the staff without incurring costs to the borrower. If this cannot be done the borrower will be presented with an invoice for the cost of the book. This money will be used to purchase a new resource. If the invoice is not paid borrowing privileges will be suspended.

Opening times

Generally the library will be opened to individual students before school hours from 8.30 am to 9.00 am, at first lunch break and second lunch break and then again after school from 3.00 pm to 3.15 pm. At the beginning and end of each school year these times will vary depending on set-up and stock-take procedures. Scheduled class borrowing is timetabled during school teaching time.
